Sveriges äldsta hockeycup drog igång med länsderby mellan Timrå och Modo. Nu är det ju visserligen alltid den matchen som öppnar cupen, men så är det ju också den som lockar klart mest publik.
4422 personer hade letat sig till Eon för att bevittna det hela och det var ju inte direkt illa pinkat för en försäsongsmatch.
Hur var det hela då?
Ja, nu ska man ju inte dra för stora växlar av en träningsmatch, men för att vara just det, så var tempot och intensiteten riktigt hög i matchen. Båda lagen visade att de ville sätta sina motståndare på plats. Det visade sig redan innan nedsläpp då Timrås Pikkarainen retade som motspelare rejält och fick denne att tappa fattningen. Vem det var såg jag aldrig från min plats, men han var ganska irriterad.
Och detta alltså redan innan nedsläpp.
Timrå var ett par nummer större än Modo matchen igenom och slutresultatet 4-2 kunde lika gärna varit 6-2 då Timrå hade flera fina lägen att trycka in pucken. Visst hade väl Ö-vikarna också några lägen, men de inte i närheten av de röd-vitas.
Plus och minus då. ja ett stort plus var att det tydligt syntes vad som skett under sommaren. Där fanns just det som saknades under Challes ledning, riktlinjer i spelet. Man hade ett grundspel att luta sig mot och därmed höll Timrå ihop laget bra över hela banan. Det finns en spelidé som alla spelare köper och kan lira efter.
Då var det istället tvärtom hos Ångermanlänningarna. Där saknades en samman länkande grund och därmed blev avståndet ofta väldigt långt mellan anfall och försvar. det syntes tydligt då Timrå vid minst tre tillfällen fick igenom långpassningar från egen zon och ända upp till offensiv blå och därmed friläge. Nu lyckades man dock inte förvalta dessa på ett produktivt sätt, men det hela gav mersmak.
Just det här med exakta passningar genomsyrade Timrås spel matchen igenom. I den nye backen Jokela har Linkan hittat en ruggig taktiker med en sanslös passningsförmåga. Så gott som varenda puck till egna spelare hamnade precis på klubbladet och dessutom var han säkerheten själv i defensiven.
Försvarsspelet i stort såg också riktigt bra ut och inte minst Magnus Åkerlund i målet. Han verkade ruskigt på hugget och fortsätter han i den andan så bäddar det för en sund konkurrens mellan honom och Pitkemäki.
Ny match mot Brynäs i morgon fredag. Ett Brynäs som Timrå slog på straffar tidigare denna försäsong och som tidigare i kväll slog cupvärdarna Sundsvall med 5-2.
Är lite tveksam till hur Brynäs står sig denna säsong utan jätten Markström i mål. Han var en stor del i att laget över huvud taget tog sig till slutspel i fjol och lämnade ett stort hål på målvaktssidan. Ersättaren Björn Bjurling har ingen lätt uppgift i att ta över efter markström.
